Nandini, a premium cottage nestled atop a serene hillside in village Baburkhola, P.O. Dwarson, at an altitude of about 6,000 ft. above sea level, merely 19 km from Ranikhet and 28 km from Almora, offers breath-taking vistas of the snow-capped Himalayan range in front, and a verdant Pine forest at the back. On a clear day one can enjoy the view of Nanda Devi (the second highest peak in India), Trishul – 1, 2 & 3, Nanda Ghunti, Mrigathuni range, Maiktoli, and Nanda Kot peaks from the Cottage. Nandini is a sanctuary in the Kumaon hills for our guests looking for a break from their mundane urban busy life and a chance to connect with nature. This charming Cottage, adorned with handcrafted details, is meticulously designed to act as a ‘home away from home’ and Guests may enjoy the occasional snow fall during peak winters.

As you step inside Nandini, you will find the interior welcoming and exuding warmth. Each of the 4 rooms are designed to offer you the privacy you deserve and invite you to relax and unwind. With balconies overlooking the valley and the snow-capped Himalayas in every room, you are ensured of privacy as you sip your morning tea or a drink of your choice. While at the Cottage you can go for long walks in the verdant pine forest behind, or, read a book sitting undisturbed in the balcony (a small collection of books – fiction & non-fiction- is available at the cottage), or better still write one’s own book in the serene surroundings, or, simply “do nothing” but stare at the lovely vista, relax and let go of all worries. Alternatively, if you wish to remain connected with work and/or family and friends, you can attend your office and bond with loved ones, virtually via the internet through a fast hi-tech fibre network. This way you get to enjoy best of the both the worlds.
The Cottage has a kids play area with Wavy slide, Swing, Merry-Go-Round and a Puppy Rider to make your kids stay really enjoyable and memorable.
A well manicured lawn with a gazebo and a swing will come in handy to bask in the sun during daytime and enjoy a bonfire at night while listening to the music of your liking on a JBL sound Box. You can also practice early morning Yoga on the lawn.
The cottage has a small library with books from renowned and not so renowned authors – fiction and non-fiction. One can read ‘Man Eaters of Kumaon’ from Jim Corbott, to books on the first Sepoy mutiny of 1857 from various authors, including from William Delrymple. For readers of fiction there are good numbers of books from Harrold Robbins, Jeffrey Archer, Dan Brown etc. Books for Children are also present.
The ground Floor Bed room – Kubani is a pet friendly bed room of the cottage. The guest staying at Kubani can bring their pets subject to T&Cs and payment of nominal fees. upto 2 pets at a time allowed and only dogs & cats are treated as pets to be allowed to stay with the guests. Guests are requested to intimate in advance about their pets and the same is allowed subject to availability of Kubani bedroom during the period of their stay.
Food is prepared in steel vessels including steel Pressure Cookers (except iron kadai for some local dishes) so that no toxicity leaches into the food. (No aluminium vessels are used for cooking)
Note: The approach to Cottage is not wheel chair friendly and therefore Guests on wheel chairs are advised accordingly.
Beaware : As the Cottage boundary touches a verdant forest at the back and there can be occasional sighting of small harmless wild animals, apart from monkeys. The monkeys are strictly not to be fed by the guests. Though the Cottage is secured through a chain link fence, we advise our guests not to venture in the forest after dark.
A bit of Caution : The Cottage has pine wood interiors. Pine wood is inflammable and therefore smoking inside the Cottage is strictly prohibited. If smoking outside, we advise extra care to extinguish cigarette butts after smoking as the dry pine needles fallen on the ground are easily inflammable especially during dry summer months.
