Hi, I’m Vijay Bisht, your host, and I’m thrilled to share my passion for hospitality with you. After spending nearly 40 years in the corporate sector, I decided to follow my heart and embark on a new adventure in the world of hospitality. I hope that my journey from the corporate world to homestay hosting is going to be mutually rewarding with my guests.
Working in the Corporate sector gave me the opportunity to travel extensively. I have stayed at star hotels, as well as, at nondescript ones in remote places. The star hotels are obviously designed by professionals with perfection to provide comfort to the guests but then they lack the homely warmth. On the other hand, the nondescript ones may provide warmth but then they are not designed by professionals and may lack on comfort levels. I have endeavoured to blend best of both the worlds – the warmth of a homestay and the comfort of a star hotel. My personal attention to each and every detail for providing comfort and maintaining hygiene, and of-course the wonderful location, I am sure, would leave each of my guests with a memorable experience of their stay at Nandini.
Being a Kumaoni I take great pride in sharing local customs and cuisines with my guests and encourage them to explore the hidden gems of nature in this part of Kumaon.
And now, coming to the question, why I have chosen Ranikhet to explore my passion, Well, Ranikhet is my hometown! Though my up bringing has been all over India due to my father’s service, and my own corporate life kept me away, I spent nearly all my summer vacations in Ranikhet. This Cottage is my attempt at coming back to my roots!
Thank you for choosing Nandini, inspired from ‘Nanda Devi’ – the second highest peak of India. In Kumaoni mythology, Nanda Devi is believed to be a Goddess and associated with fertility and protection. She is also considered the guardian deity of the region and is worshipped by the locals. Nandini is also my mother’s name !
